THE FACULTY QUALITY OF LIFE SURVEY

Method of Data Collection: A sample of 240 faculty members from the San Mateo County Community College District responded to an on-line "Quality of Life" survey.

The survey questions were developed by Katharine Harer and the Research Committee. Nick Kapp orchestrated the data collection.

CONTENTMENT CONTINUED

One statistical question is, "Is there a correlation between the number of semesters worked and contentment?" A statistical analysis shows that they are not correlated. In another analysis, the faculty was broken up into groups based upon full-time or part-time work and the correlation between semesters worked and contentment was calculated. Neither correlation was significant.

Another question is, "Is there a difference between the average contentment of full-timers and part-timers?" An independent samples t-test shows no significant difference between these two groups on contentment.
